Fun and Learning: Giving Back at Anita’s Home
The best way to learn is on the job.
Last Saturday, 16th May 2026, students, staff and friends of Diakonia Training Institute were privileged to join the children at Anita’s Home in Ngong for our planned charity / sports day event. This was a wholesome opportunity, especially for our students to take part in co-curricular activity, as well as intact with the community we hope that they serve diligently once they’re done with their studies.
Our students got an opportunity to showcase their prowess in catering, as the tens of Chapatis they prepared were enjoyed by everyone in attendance. This was also a moment of learning, as the students, through the Anita social worker, got to understand the alternative family care that is being championed by the government of Kenya, the benefits, as well as how each one of us can take part towards realizing this ambition.
We would like to thank all the students and their loved ones for their generous donations towards this event; Shalom Cabs and our driver, Mr. Herbert Esese, the Anita fraternity for the warm reception, and last but not least, our mother organization, Koinonia Community for creating this wholesome ecosystem where we can all learn, share and thrive.
