On Friday 29th September, Diakonia students and staff converged at our main campus in Shalom House for our termly assembly. New students got oriented into the Diakonia Training Institute community. It was a day of networking, learning and fun as could be seen on the attendees’ faces.

As part of operations restructuring, students were made aware of the new systems put in place to enhance their college life. This included introductions of key college committees including exams, Occupational Safety and Health, Quality Assurance, as well as Industrial Liaison. The biggest of news was that Diakonia Training Institute has finally been accredited by the TVET Authority, consequently paving way for partnerships with different examination bodies to allow for inhouse conducting of external exams. As part of the ongoing revamp, all student pursuing craft and diploma courses were reminded to take part in the mandatory industrial attachment and graduation ceremonies once they’re through with their studies.

The college principal, Mr. Kevin Menya encouraged the students to always aim high as they seek to conquer their different professional fields. He encouraged the students to embrace the ongoing changes in positive light, as it’s meant to get the best out of them.

The institute was also privileged to host the team from Noones who sensitized the fraternity on Digital currency. The students got to learn about the evolution of currency, and how it has changed in the recent years with the introduction of digital currencies. We thank Noones for the very insightful session, the many giveaways and the pizzas of course! We look forward to further engagements as we work to positively impact individuals and communities through practical skills and combating day-to-day challenges.
